About Project Polaris

Partnership drives our mission

About this project

Welcome to Project Polaris — Grenada’s bold step toward becoming a global model for modern healthcare. At the heart of this transformation is a state-of-the-art, climate-resilient smart research hospital situated on 10 acres within the larger 84-acre Hope Vale Medical City in the parish of St. David.

This 250-bed hospital will serve as the cornerstone of Grenada’s upgraded health system, enabling high-quality, patient-centred care, innovation in clinical services, and advanced medical training.

Designed with sustainability and future growth in mind, the facility will offer fit-for-purpose tertiary care, nephrology services, outpatient and surgical care, and foster local and international partnerships for knowledge transfer.

Project Polaris is more than a hospital; it's a catalyst for economic and national well-being. While the broader medical city will develop over time to include health tourism, biotech, and elder care services, the hospital is the anchor—the first and most vital step in Grenada’s long-term healthcare vision.

Our Vision

To transform healthcare in the Caribbean for the benefit of all humanity.

Our Mission

To establish Grenada as the Medical Capital of the OECS and the medical destination of choice in the Americas.

Rooted in national priorities, shaped by global best practices

Project Background

Grenada is laying the foundation for a resilient and inclusive health system that delivers quality care for all. With an eye toward equity, the country is working to expand access across primary, secondary, and tertiary care levels. Project Polaris addresses historical gaps by introducing integrated, data-informed healthcare delivery, targeted programs, and upskilling opportunities for the health workforce.

The current General Hospital, while long-serving, is located in a densely populated area with space and infrastructure limitations. Its relocation to Hope Vale under Project Polaris will provide a serene, accessible setting that enhances therapeutic recovery and service delivery.

Project Polaris aligns with Grenada’s National Sustainable Development Plan 2020–2035, specifically Outcome #1: A Healthy Population. The plan calls for the relocation of the General Hospital to a more tranquil location and the development of a teaching hospital. These objectives are being realised through the development of this climate-resilient, smart facility as part of a broader national agenda supported by international partners.

A generational investment in health, equity, and economic growth.
